I am the worst person at this: As I was going through Kate’s wedding photos, grabbing favorites to blog, I realized I have not shared her bridals with you! Kate was one of my October brides and we actually shot her bridals this past June but wanted to wait until after the wedding to share them. We did our best to give it a harvest feel, which if you know Louisiana and how dry our summers are, it wasn’t hard. Paula, Kate’s mother, drove me through some of the most gorgeous areas of Monroe. We drove a few miles until we found the perfect patch of light for Kate’s dress.
For the longest time I was unwilling to admit this, but something from our trip to Disney’s animation studios influenced my compositional and color decisions. (Dear Disney, please don’t sue me. xo- Anne) It’s subtle but I can see it almost directly from the Rapunzel and Sleeping Beauty screen shots and concept art. As we walked through the animation studio hallways, I squealed at the posters and screenshots on the wall, “Oh, I want my photos to look like that! Look at the color theory, the directional light, the vignetting!” All the while Ryan is reminding me it’s a lot easier to control your subjects, light etc when you are DRAWING them. I beg to differ. But I really am such a girly girl at heart. When I saw Kate’s flowy, gaussian princess-like dress.. I think I caved to my girly whims a bit.
